Help! or comment?
Wed, 14 July 1999, 12:30 pmI know I am probably wasting my time, but Ill do it anyway, in the Clubs that are ITA, would any of their members (who are not Actors Only) who usually do it Backstage - like to link up into a 'not so formal' type Stagecraft Guild or what ever name it may become. This is purely, at this stage, a network only - who knows what it may become - one of the main things would be they are a card carrying Member of an ITA Club or at least a financial member, if they don't have cards?.Which reminds me, on a web page some where I read a great idea, with most clubs having the access to cheap desk top publishing. The Club produce cards for its members as a their own business card, except on the back is either list future shows and their seasons, the show their in or provision to fill it in. It was put across on the bases that people we meet who ask what we do - The Card comes out and they know who you are and what the theatre is about - it might cost a few dollars, but its good cheep advertising and lasts longer than an advert in the rag Y/N?Anyway, if you have a few Backstage people and they want to get in touch for more info..please do.It is in the formative stages and any input would help! - even if you think I should be either simulated by the Borg, totally stupid or be taken over by the 'Dark side'- BaBaBa BaaBaah BaBaBa BaaBaah BaBaBa BaaBaah BaBaBa Bumm......Joe McCabe

Re: Help! good idea!
Teri - You hit on the biggest viod Community Theatre has - Administration? These poor souls are thrown in and expected to win Gold - instantly?Of course there are those who, because they are doing it, have the "I only do it 'My Way' (another good idea for a song - just a few more and I'll have a musical)attitude".Company Management is not just being elected - it dosn't come with your birth Certificate.Your right! - where do they go to find out?Just think they could be the Guild of Theatre Managers, not fancy enough! It would have to be along the lines of theInstitute of Theatrical Arts Administrative DirectorsIt is a good idea, because, can a Community Theatre function with out them?So when is it starting???? - Who else is interested????While your letting them know about the other!Tracy Claydon, here in Mandurah, is attempting to find out which Theatre Clubs have Youth Theatre involved with them, for the next Youth Theatre festival they are expanding it to cover all YT - not just schools, I believe they are talking about doing at the 'Maj' in Perth next year?I think I will get Tracy to do a 'posting' explaining it all (I will get it all wrong) or you can contact her direct 08 9535 7459 or email hylas@tik.com.au.(Tracy, asked me to thank Norma of ITA for all her help to date)Joe McCabe> Great idea Joe....have our meeting next week...i will let all> our members know.> Just thinking...wouldn't it be a great idea to have a similar> type guild...just dealing with the administrative side of theatre> too. EMAILNOTICES>noPeople are *assimilated* by the Borg, not simulated.

*Borged*
> People are *assimilated* by the Borg, not simulated.> People are also *stimulated* by the Borg - 7 of 9 seems to have this effect on others, and I believe the Borg Queen *got giggy* with Data. Picard was certainly *screwed* by the Borg and Chakotay got *bored* by Borg. Sisko's wife found herself *eradicated* by Borg. As Spock would say "fascinating".

Re: *Borged*
> Live Long and Prosper!!Thanks - Assimilated? So the Borg are out! Now how can I ever be simulated - when I have to swap 'U' for 'I' and place an 'AS' up front?Joe McCabe
