Fri, 28 May 1999, 07:16 amThe following item of juicy news courtesy of Norma Davis, ITA Secretary:Yesterday the ITA, as well as all of the member amateur theatres received aletter from Bernard Angell, (who is I believe known to you) regarding aproposed Shakespeare Festival being mooted for summer 1999-2000 at thequarry. WITH REAL CASH PRIZES! That should make a few peoples eyes light up.Quote:-"we are proposing to hold a Shakespeare Festival in the form of acompetition for non-professional theatre companies and groips. The conceptis that we will build an Elizabethan Stage on the existing quarry Stage.Dates under consideration January 22-23 or February 20-March 12. We aretrying to gauge the level of interest in such an event to approach potentialsponsors.It is anticipated, if such sponsors become available to offer a 50% share ofthe box office takings to participating companies."this is a precis of his letter.
