Greetings from the East,If clubs would like some fabulous tips about marketing and public relations The Association of Community Theatre conducted a seminar a few years ago with the top PR people in amateur theatre. It is available on video. There are many basic skills involved which make a huge difference in the type pf coverage you get. The speakers include myself, Journalist ABC, Tom SWEENEY marketing and PR expert and Music Theatre Director, and two other very successful theatres in Sydney. If you are interested ..post a cheque for $25 to The Association of Community Theatre PO Box 1026 Marrickville 2204. NSW. I think a copy might already be in the ITA library. Also a magazine in the US has just put out a great book on the subject. It's called Stage Directions. The Book is called a Guide to Publicity. The web address is www.heinemanndrama.comI enjoy reading your messages but sometimes this system reminds me of a nightmarish scenario where everybody knows what everyone else is thinking, so every keeps talking over the top of each other.

Hi David> If clubs would like some fabulous tips about marketing and public> relations The Association of Community Theatre conducted a seminar> a few years ago with the top PR people in amateur theatre. It is available> on video. What a fabulous resource! I hope companies will avail themselves of a copy - even if it's a loan from the ITA Library.> I enjoy reading your messages but sometimes this system reminds> me of a nightmarish scenario where everybody knows what everyone else> is thinking, so every keeps talking over the top of each other.Everybody _thinks_ they know what everyone else is thinking. If you think it's bad here, you should try something like the rec.arts.theatre.plays newsgroup. It's chaos! But as a modern mathematician will tell you, if you look at it long and hard enough (and from far enough away), you'll start to see the patterns and trends emerging. In the case of this website, i think we can all see beyond the seriousness and the trivia to the emergence of an on-line community. (don't i just love that word!)CheersGrant
