Hi, my name is Fiona Johnston and I'm a Client Manager with Mission Employment, Fremantle. I currently have a guy on my books who is an exeptional artist, he is able to recreate art of the great masters. landscapes, portraits or anything else you may like to see. At the moment he has his paintings in galleries just waiting for someone to buy them. My job as his Client Manager is to think of different areas & ways he can look for and locate work so as to cease his unemployment benefits. This is where you guys come in.During the past year, he has been involved with Murdoch University (via a friend of his who was a tutor) where he made a number of masks (animals, birds, oriental etc.) for the theatre and painted the backdrops for the stage.I was wondering if any of you would happen to know where Jiri could apply to put this talent into use. He has painted many large, wall size pieces, so does not have a problem recreating size. Purhaps there is a friend of a friend that wants a specific piece of artwork done for not only theatre, but CD covers, backdrops etc.Shoudl you have any leads for Jiri, please do not hesitate to contact me at work on telephone No 9335 7322, Fax 9335 7344 or email johnstonf@mewftl.mission.com.auMany thanks, just for reading this notice.RegardsFiona

Hi FionaMost of Perth's community groups are probably not in a position to pay someone to paint their scenery. Are there opportunities for this person to gain experience through the Voluntary Work Initiative? Some good work on a few community theatre productions may gain him the notice he needs to find a market for his work in the professional industry. The upcoming Grads/UDS production of As You Like It in the New Fortune Theatre would be a high profile community theatre event with a professional director, a set designer from the Academy of Performing Arts and a great opportunity to show off his skills. You could contact the club president Caroline on 9386 1555. But it is a freebee. There are a couple of companies that may be able to offer contract work to a scenic painter/designer - but a portfolio of scenic work would be vital. Hawking his wares at each of the major theatre companies, leaving a card and a photo of some work would be a great start. Don't forget that shopping centres often stage kids shows over xmas. I don't know what the avenue is to get into painting scenery for them. Shop front decorations? If he's not already involved, he's probably missed a good chance with the City of Perth's shop decoration thingie.Phew... can't think of anything else at the moment.CheersGrant
