This is your LAST CHANCE to see this hilarious show! There are still a few seats available tonight - so call me on 9337 2060 to avoid disappointment.
Oh yeah, and what about a review on this site from those who have already seen it?
Class Act Theatre presents
LYSISTRATA
by Aristophanes
(a new adaptation by Stephen Quinn)
Class Act Theatre (Hotel Sorrento, Twelfth Night, Othello, Macbeth) presents a brand new version of Aristophanes’ Ancient Greek comedy. “Lysistrata” is a wonderful comic attack on war and politics, in which the women decide to put an end to war by refusing to sleep with any man until the fighting has stopped.
Aristophanes allows this comic idea to spiral into absurdity as the men find things are getting harder and harder – and even the women are finding it difficult to keep their oath!
Our brilliantly funny, yet savagely biting, modern update of Aristophanes superb Greek masterpiece will substitute the world of ancient Athens and Sparta with modern day conflicts between nations.
This production will be a timeless examination of the folly of war and the stupidity of conflict and aggression between fellow members of the human species. The sheer “joie de vivre” and energy of Aristophanes’ work is a breath of fresh air. We like to think of him, jokingly, as “the Benny Hill of Ancient Athens” – including everything from farting to unabashed nudity! (The Ancient Greeks didn’t have as many hang-ups as we do!) To Aristophanes, war, politics and religion were all subservient to the great Greek cry of “Binetiomen!” (“we all want to get laid!”).
Directed by Stephen Lee (nominated for Best Director at the 2005 Equity Guild Awards) and starring Dan Luxton, Shirley Van Sanden, Graham Mitchell, Angelique Malcolm, Claire Munday, Summer Williams, Annabelle Tan, Steve Havercroft and Kate McGinniskin – this production promises to be a winner.
