Black Swan's Hotbed
Mon, 6 Feb 2006, 10:39 pmI have heard that Adam Mitchell will be directing Falling Petals for the Black Swna's Hotbed program. Will he be having auditions that anyone can attend or is it a closed shop?
Also are any of the actors getting paid? I have heard that all the creatives are (director and designers.)

Re: Black Swan's Hotbed
Like most professional theatre here, it will be a closed shop - unless it is one of those indie ones. Otherwise, a lot of arse licking will have to be done.

Re: Black Swan's Hotbed
Hotbed ran extensive auditions last year for anyone who sought to be involved, and then chose a group of artists (directors, actors, designers, stage managers, admin staff etc) to work as an ensemble for 8 months. So yes, the shows are a closed shop. I resent the snide comments from toby... the oppurtunity was there for anyone who bothered get off their arse and audition and show a bit of interest rather than just bitterness.

Re: Black Swan's Hotbed
wow! Yes I am directing Falling Petals for Black Swan's Hotbed program, it has already been cast, and the stipulation was that they were members of the ensemble. You can audition for next years program I imagine towards the end of 2006. So no arse licking needed, just audition!

Re: Black Swan's Hotbed
Of course it seems to help your Hotbed chances considerably if you happen to have been in Matt Lutton's uni course and his last 4 shows...
