Hi all,I'm planning some major changes to the design of the site over xmas/new year. Including dropping the separate Classified and Reviews message boards and just having one Gossip/News board.I'll be dropping the News and Events pages - they've never been up to date and the message boards have performed the role better. The homepage/welcome screen will feature condensed lists of the most recenet message titles and shows currently playing - so that you don't have to click thru' several screens to see what's new and happening.Hopefully by then the ITA and i will have worked out something for keep the list of shows more up to date and comprehensive. The ITA librarians also hope to have all 2,000 plays in the library fully catalogued by xmas. What an astonishing effort!I look forward to your criticisms and suggestions. (Puts on flame proof suit)CheersGrant

Re: ITA Site update

Morning Grant,I am the first to confess to computer illiteracy, but is there a way to work it so that clubs with internet access can update their own production information, saving you valuable time and abusive emails(just joking).Sharon> Hi all,> I'm planning some major changes to the design of the site over> xmas/new year. Re: ITA Site update

Hi Sharon,> I am the first to confess to computer illiteracy, but is there> a way to work it so that clubs with internet access can update their> own production information, saving you valuable time and abusive emails(just> joking).hehehe thanks for the great idea! Your suggestion was once my original plan. There actually was a backdoor to the shows database that allowed information to be updated on-line via a web-based form. This was password restricted and would have allowed authorised people to update only their club's details. But it was too buggy for general use and had the potential to seriously corrupt the database so i've removed it.There are better commercial solutions that would do the job very well, however the necessary internet account and software would require a fair-sized investment from the ITA. (At the moment I host and manage the site for free on my own personal account.) Perhaps the ITA might be encouraged to consider this at some stage in the future? Better still, there might be a great sponsorship opportunity here for a community-minded internet service provider. In the meantime, if recent message titles appeared on the homepage then posting your information to the message boards would be a great way of drawing attention to your shows effectively updating production details.CheersGrant

Re: ITA Site update - WOW!

Further to my previous post:Just visited the following siteAustralian Cultural NetworkHave a look around, this site is very well designed and laid out. They offer a free event finder for eligible organisations - i'll be applying immediately for membership. They also allow people to add their information directly to the database. The advantage here is that your information would not just be listed on the ITA site, but on a national register of events!Almost looks too good to be true. But this is the pace at which the internet moves.I'll keep everyone posted on progress.CheersGrant
