Make up artist Work Experience

Hi, I am a qualified make up artist. I have moved to Australia recently and just before moving here I finished my make up course. Unfortunatley I have no work experience and I have no contacts here. I am very interested in doing work experience in Sydney. Can anyone please tell me how I can get some work experience?

Hi Rebecca,
I suggest you contact all the amateur theatre groups in or near your area and offer your assistance with makeup for their shows.
This is unpaid work, but you will have your name in the programme and if they are very nice, they may let you have a small ad in the programme as well.
Amateur groups are crying out for qualified people to assist with makeup and there are often shows where fantasy makeup or a more complicated makeup is required. So get out there and have a go.
Not sure of what;s in your area? Contact the recreation or culture department of your neasest shire, council offices or visit the library and see if they know.
If you were in Perth, I would snap you up like that! I am doing Narnia and require some specialist help for fantasy makeup myself.

A Make-up artist is required a for special effects movie being produced by Monash University multimedia students. You will be required to create an alien face/head on a male actor from the brief supplied for one day of filming. The artist will be given complete creative freedom within the brief.
