Caravan - What A Season !
Sun, 15 May 2005, 02:04 pmThank you to everyone that came along to our sold out season of Caravan at KADS. The theatre was bursting at the seams with people and thank you to the many people who queud at the door in hope of a spare seat going...
A fabulous season - Here's a quirky little poem we presented our director Karen Hall with last night at the cast party.
KARENÂ’S VAN
Karen started talking about this hilarious show
With a caravan on stage – o please – tell us more
Started planning and designing in 2004
Told us of 6 friends on a camping holiday by the sea shore
We gathered at KarenÂ’s for readings galore
Along with spa, nibbles and drinkies more
Then came auditions and then it began
Rehearsals at KarenÂ’s, her patio now a van.
With AlastairÂ’s great genius we had the set from day one
A caravan shell that we in awe watch transform
Complete with cupboards, kitchen, table and bunks
Into what weÂ’d have when time came to perform
As the weeks traveled on we learnt a great deal
The vast dynamics of the six – quite surreal
About Parkes and Penny – Parkes proud of his caravan – how cool
His vile temper and Penny simply peaceful
Then Monica and Rodney – a relationship hyjinx
MonicaÂ’s bitchy sarcasm and prone to a drink
Who knew all along and playing along to the trick
That Penny and Rodney – were getting a bit
Add to the four their spider hating, snake fearing friend Pierce
Who brought his much young girlfriend Gwendolyn along for the trip
MonicaÂ’s reaction you could say was somewhat fierce
When RodneyÂ’s eyes wandered MoniÂ’s sarcasm let rip.
Gwendy had been in an Ashram for 3 years and a nun in a past life
Now having an affair with Pierce and in levitated flight.
Penny desperate to celebrate her womanhood, forgot being a wife
Got caught with Rodney in the car and hedge confessions were strife
And as the caravan holiday did surely progress
The rain tumbled down and the caravan did drip
And in the mud they were sinking when they stopped to digress
“We don’t want to go home” – which made poor Parkes flip
ItÂ’s been an adventure holiday of the greatest pleasure
And so from Paul, Anna, Stephan, Melz, Errol & Esther
To Karen we say THANKYOU for making us suffer the weather
The tantrums, the chaos, punches, annexÂ’s, car accidents full measure
And for sending us on this camping holiday – all of us together !!!
AHH LOVELY !!!!!!!!!!!
KarenÂ’s Van
Oh my soul is running from
KarenÂ’s Van
We are drowning :-) hehehe
[%sig%]
