Dr Seuss
Tue, 26 Apr 2005, 09:47 pmThis my seem a bit odd of a question to ask on a theatre website. But I was reminicing with a friend the other day about all the Dr Seuss books and how much a part of my childhood they were. I was wondering if Dr Seuss was a part of your childhood library (or adulthood library) and what was everyones favourites?

First book I was credited with being able to read (age 3) "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish", followed by "I Wish That I Had Duck Feet"....probably precursors to my artistic reputation of portraying animal characters.
Never got into the Cat in The Hat, but "Green Eggs And Ham" was a trippy favorite. "Fox In Socks" and "Hop On Pop" inspired a love of loopy rhymes and being able to win Hoo-Haa games like Da Do Ron Ron.
"The Lorax" is a brilliant story with a great global environmental message...pretty ahead of its time.
And only a few years ago a friend gave me a Dr Seuss book for my 33rd birthday..! It was "Oh, The Places You'll Go" and it was actually a beautiful, meaningful present.
Funny you should combine Dr Seuss and a theatre forum, because I am toying with the idea of a show based on the style of one of his books...
Cheers,
