Blak Yak Theatre is proud to present its first season for 2005: "Popcorn" by Ben Elton, directed by Melissa Merchant.

Bruce Delamitri, director of ultra-violent but very stylish movies, is on top of the world. His movies are hip and he's just won an Oscar for Best Director. Not too far away, psychopaths Wayne and Scout are killing people without apparent reason. Wayne has a plan to avoid the death penalty but he needs Bruce's help to carry it out. What happens next, is murder, mayhem and the highest ratings in television history....

Ben Elton's "Popcorn" is a fast, funny and stylish exploration into the power of the media and society's refusal to accept responsibility for its actions.

Performance dates are Feb 16-19, 23-26 at The Studio (Subiaco Theatre Centre, Hamersley Rd, Subiaco). Performances start at 8.15pm. Tickets are $14.95 (or $12.95 concession) through BOCS (9484 1133).

Warning: contains sex, violence, drug use, coarse language, gunfire, semi-nudity and Shenandoah. Miss it at your own risk.
