Just a suggestion....
Sun, 2 Jan 2005, 10:41 pmI have noticed that a few people are commenting on the number of young people requesting information on movie roles / acting etc.
I also realise that this site is dedicated to Australian Theatre, but what do people feel about including Casting Agencies in each State's "Companies" List?
The reason I feel that this will be beneficial, is because this site is very informative to proffesional, amatuer, and new actors starting out, and when your young with no experience, you'll go anywhere for information.
Well, it's just a thought..
Regards;
Lynnette

Re: Just a suggestion....
Thanks David..
You should attend your local theatre group to assist with the backstage part of productions - I'm sure many of them would appreciate a helping hand.
And in regards to acting, even if it is a hobby, you can check out agents mostly under Modelling/Casting Agencys in the yellow pages. Go in and meet with them to see what films/commericals/television series they have worked with in the past, and which ones they have in the future to see if its worth the money to attend a course.
(You will have to pay for a course, because to represent you, they need to have worked with you, know your abilities etc, and you will also need to provide them with a couple of snap shots. Don't waste your time if they tell you that you must use their photographer for shots, its costly and un-nessesary.)
Even if it is just extra work, it's interesting to see what goes on behind-the-scenes, and you can definatly learn allot!
Most companies will use their students as Extra's - so make sure you hunt around for a well established one, and let them know exactly why you want to enrol.
Hope this helps...

Whose agencies would that be and what do you mean by placements?
I think you'll find that the person who runs this 'ere site has enough on his plate - just an observation - I could be wrong.
