Hello all

This is just a note to inform any male actors out there that there are two roles open for the NSW Premiere production of The Castle.

Rehearsals will be held in Merrylands NSW and Performances will be in April 2005 at Wentowrthville (two suburbs over from Parramatta)

The roles are:

ACTOR 1 - LAWRIE / JOHN CLIFTON
A split role, this actor has 100 lines and appears at the beginning and end of the play. For those of you who know the movie, Lawrie is the Bud Tingwell character, the QC who ends up defending the Kerrigans in the Supreme Court. Clifton is in one scene, and appears at the beginning to evealuate the Kerrigan home. Late thirties to late forties.

ACTOR 2 - JACK / MR LYLE
Actor must have a look of late sixties to seventies. jack is the loveable neighbour of the Kerrigans and Mr Lyle is the opposing QC. Approximately 70 lines and has a good chunk of the play to get through.

I am looking for two male actors who consider themselves to be character actors. THIS IS NOT PAID WORK, it is for the amateur circuit.

If anyone is interested, first rehearsal is on Tuesday 30th November 7:30 - 10:30pm at Merrylands United Church Hall, memorial Avenue.

Please contact the director Jonathon Anderson on 9893 9678 or 0422 126 077 if you wish to take on these roles.

Thank you

re: The Castle - Roles available

Dear Jonathon,
Love to do the Castle in WA. Can you give me who to contact for the rights.
Break a leg with your production.

Re: rights for The Castle

You need to contact Working Dog productions becasue they will give you the film script and then there are conditions to adapt it to the stage. However, you need to do the adaptation yourself.

Our production goes on In April next year and Im not sure what their policy is on multiple productions as only one other group in Melbourne have done it.

But yes, contact Working Dog Productions

Re: rights for The Castle

I am teaching year 10 Drama at a Brisbane High School and want desperately to give the students a chance to do something Australian that has both substance and comedy. They are very bright kids and are sick to deal of doing "teenage issue" stuff. So am I!!!
Part of the project will be that they adapt the screen script and after performance, develop some "new scenes" - we call it "forming tasks" up here. The deal is that they will first perform all or parts of the original script- adapted for stage of course and then use the scharacters and situations as "points of departure" to develop some new possible scenarios.
I hope you are ok sith this proposal.
This will NOT be a money making adventure. We are not allowed to charge audiences to see our productions. I will happily furnish you with whatever documentation of the processes and outcomes that you want and/or need.

It's rather urgent. The kids don't want to do the set unit - neither do I. So, I have to come up with an alternative SOON !!!

Many thanks
