Marketing
Sun, 16 Aug 1998, 02:39 pmOne of the most often asked question we have had from our trip to the NSW Drama Conference was " How can we improve our marketing?" In addition to our normal marketing ideas the following suggestions were made at the conference: -Use the Internet. The ITA page is always available if you do not have your own page. If you do have your own page use both that & the ITA.Produce early photo's for the papers. Staged if your set is not ready. Go for 8"x6" and colour is OK (Particularly if your target paper uses colour), although many still prefer a good black & white.Prepare bio's & photo's of actors for release early in the rehearsal period.Look for "an angle" e.g. an actor who has another outside interest, special effects, comment about the author, something about the club/hall then mention current play etc.Prepare press releases early, clean, clear copy include:company name & logo (small)big titlewhen, where, price, date, time, booking No.further information ring........check all phone numbers (even ring them to be sure they are right.)If an actor live outside your area go to newspapers in his/her area.Include a copy of your programme (when available.) with all media packs.Always say thank you to the media if you get coverage.Get to know what your audience likes, one idea was to have a free raffle for everyone who puts their name & address in the hat (use the back of your ticket) and then follow up with survey (phone or post) send flyers to those people for the next show.If you can get a local sponsor share costs e.g. dinner & a show package.
