Mon, 23 Aug 2004, 05:49 pmhi
im 14 and i really want to make my dream come true, its to become an actress and meet all of my favourite actors and actresses only because watching them has inspired me to become an actress and plan to save up and go to the AADA when im 18 but im not sure what else i can do if i dont get in. like ive heard about people getting agents and getting a career that way but i would really like to know whats the best way to become an actress i do some comunity plays but i'd like to plan where im going and what im gonna do since i didnt know what i wanted to be when i was older, i thought nothing really appeals to me then i thought i like acting then i thought when your an actor/actress you can be anything. i'd just like to know whats the best way to become an actress since its the only thing i want to be if you could help me out i'd be really greatful

Re: help about an acting career
Hi Katie
Ask your parents to enroll you into dance school/acting/singing, you can do this part time or until you are 18 and ready to audition for drama school. Take drama and English as a subject at high school and if you/your parents can afford it, try and see as much live theatre you can. Read lots of plays. Watch alot of award winning films. Go to the AADA performances, infact go to all of them if you can and introduce yourself as the next best thing. If you have a close friend that is into the same things as you, you can go to the theatre together. Discuss all the aspects of the production.
Once you are accepted into drama school they will teach the rest. And the rest is history.
To sum up.!!
Part time training until you are 18
Watch lots of theatre and discuss
Read lots of plays/watch lots of award winning films
Go to the AADA productions and introduce yourself as the next best thing
Audition and win a place (The rest they will teach you)
I wish you all the luck on your journey.
Best wishes
