OK folks!

Lysistrata: A Woman's Translation only has FOUR performances left. So if you were planning to attend this HILARIOUS show this week you had better book NOW. Friday and Saturday are filling up fast so if you are able to attend on Wednesday or Thursday night it would be a very good idea, otherwise you may miss out.

Lysistrata: A WomanÂ’s Translation, provides a wonderfully cheesy comic vehicle for a very pertinent and timely message about humankind and our fixation on war. The play was the script of choice for last yearÂ’s Lysistrata Project, which saw more than 350 theatre companies all over the world stage a simultaneous play reading on the 3/3/03, protesting against the war in Iraq.

Lysistrata, an Athenian woman fed up with war, rallies together the women of Greece to seize the Treasury, stage a sex strike and force the men of each warring faction to come home and sign a truce.

This makes for a fast-paced and bawdy affair, including the pompous MagistrateÂ’s antics of male domination and the celibacy-sworn MyrrhineÂ’s relentless teasing of her sex-starved, phallus-laden husband. Meanwhile, the Chorus of Old Men and Chorus of Old Women square off in a hilarious battle of wits and guts, ultimately resulting in a reunion of genders, ages and political positions.

Lysistrata: A WomanÂ’s Translation plays from 8pm August 4-7 at The Studio, Subiaco Theatre Centre, 180 Hamersley Road, Subiaco. Tickets are available through BOCS on 9484 1133 or at the venue.

GET IN QUICK OR YOU WILL MISS ONE OF THE FUNNIEST SHOWS OF THE YEAR!
