directing project HELP!

I work at the Australian Youth Theatre in Sydney, I'm really recently emplyed. I am the youngest to be employed(16).
Anyway my boss has asked me to write a play for the theatre company to take away to the Gold Coast and perform at Sea World!
No Pressure!!!!
He wanted it a bit musical, like singing dancing bit visual!
So I thought up a setting in a Nightclub(mask/Chicago) and have these Jazz singers that sort of tell the story through song?
Anyways he liked that...and i've pulled some characters out like a mafia, seedy host, waitresses, waiters, drunkards etc
And i want to have a murder in it, it's hard to pull cause the outside entertaining area and terrorism etc
Any plot ideas?
