This post is reproduced without Kim's permission (strictly speaking a no-no), but under the circumstances i think (hope!) he'll forgive me.*****G'day All,I've just been out with a group of students from National University ofSingapore who are in town to present a Kabuki performance (in English)at the Ocatgon Theatre - June 29 and 30.Their set arrives on Monday 22 June - they are looking for someinterested people to help with bump-in and bump-out.Next weekend will be the bump-in June 27 and 28 - they'll be in thetheatre from around 7am to 5pm and the bump-out will be after theperformance on Tuesday 30 June. I guess anyone helping will be welcometo attend that performance.The same group are also running workshops atMurdoch Uni - June 25KULCHA - June 27and a preview atWA Academy June 24 which includes excerpts and a forum.Anyone interested in helping with the set should contactJonathan Lim - 9354 2973other information is available from Celia - 9371 8091Tix for performances available from BOCS or at the venue$15/$12Please spread the word - these are a great bunch of people who will go along way to assisting the profile of Asian people in the Arts inAustralia.The performers were taught by members of the National Kabuki Theatre ofJapan and will be presenting the first non-Japanese performance inEnglish ofSukeroku (Flower of Edo)one of the great Kabuki plays -The play belongs to the collection of the Ichikawa family. It is thestory of Sokeroku's quest to retrieve a sword - a family heirloom.
