Ode to Davis
Thu, 15 Jan 2004, 01:57 pmThe Dark Poet continues his homage to our ladies of the theatre:
Her Way
And now, the end is near
The audience are watching the final curtain
By now they know, I make it clear
It goes my way, of that IÂ’m certain
I like the theatre full
The audience travels on every highway
And more, much more than this
They do it my way
Regrets, IÂ’ve had a few
But then of course, they werenÂ’t paying attention
I did what I had to do
And put them straight without exemption
I planned where theyÂ’d sit of course
Kept them quiet and told them where to stay
But more, much more than this
They did it my way
Yes, there were times I sure they knew
When tackling me, they bit off more than they could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate them up and spat them out
I faced it all, although some had the gall
To question my way
IÂ’ve loved, IÂ’ve laughed and made them cry
IÂ’ve had my fill, whilst they kept losing
And now as the jeers subside
I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say – not in a shy way
No, oh no not me
I did it my way
For what a woman, quite right I know the lot
By the short and curlies, they soon learn to kneel
Front-of-house goes my way, thereÂ’s no appeal
The records show I deal out the blows
And they do it my way
