Re: Poll results
Sun, 28 Sept 2003, 06:47 pmSo when do we get our lines down?
158 participants in 2 weeks.
39 votes (24%) get their lines down by end of 3rd week.
34 (21%) by production week.
20 (12%) by the 2nd week.
19 (12%) by the 1st week.
18 (11%) before rehearsals start.
16 (10%) said "Down...??"
6 (3%) got them down for the audition.
4 (2%) by preview audience.
1 vote said "a little way into the run", and 1 vote said "by opening night" (both less than 1%)
Given that we've already noted that the poll doesn't cater for longer rehearsals, it still seems the bulk wait until later.
only 25% get them down before the end of week 1. (WHO get's ALL their lines down for an audition?? unless it's for a commercial? Sure, learn the audition piece, but jeez...or wait a minute - what's your success rate?)
33% wait until production week or later.
Just out of interest's sake...how many productions out there still employ prompts during a performance? I guess that role could be filled by a stage manager in the wings, although in my experience, most often these days the actor's on their own.
Cheers
