To "i am dumb"
Thu, 1 July 2004, 03:32 pmDear "i am dumb"
I encourage everyone to ignore you. But there is something I wanted to point out before that.
The various peices of terrorism legeslation brought in by the Howard Government post Iraq to "protect" the citizens of Australia now give the Federal Police the right to scan private computers.
They have computer setups that run day and night and constantly monitor public boards such as this one looking for, amoung other things, death threats.
Every single one of those threats is taken seriously. You can be 14 years old and mucking around on your folks PC, but that will not stop the Feds from having the right to break down your door and take you away at 4am.
Because, until you prove under twelve hours of interrogation that you are not a terrorist, they now have the right to assume you are. Your age will not save you and neither will your parents.
Personally I think this is a human rights violation of "Patriot Act" proportions. I was part of the Law Society campaign to stop that legislation being enacted. I am horrified that the days of Stalin can be visited so easily on a "civilised" country and no-one makes a fuss. This isn't the society I want to live in.
Don't post this sort of stuff again. Not only for our sake but, and I am very serious now, for your own.
