Blokes, Birds 'n Bias
Thu, 28 Aug 2003, 11:58 amSchultzee! ... apologies for taking so much time getting back to you ... I was trying to get my shirts back from the bird who used to be my wife!
Now where was I? ThereÂ’s so much to reply to! Oh yes, as a matter of fact, we are talking of the same bonza sheila, who buggered off to the bar and never gave her mates in the downstairs Old Mill dungeon a thought!
I must also admit to being a bit perturbed at your instructions to Leah, re leg shaving, my understanding is that all the shavers have been sent to Johannesburg – some friend of Shane Warne’s?
Leah, who I hasten to add, I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, responded magnificently, rising indignantly to the bait … sorry, occasion. Thank you for the compliments, I searched long and hard for the right words and “bird” and “blokes” proved their worth. Her comment on the number of males vs females (I’m too terrified to use the terms blokes and birds) is interesting and perhaps reflects the generally accepted truism that currently males spend more time on the computer than females.
As for the stuff about who gives / owns more in marriages, I’ve no idea where that came from – sounds like a feminist divorce lawyer. I was a single dad for many years, who cooked, scrubbed, nursed, entertained and schooled the kids, as well as working full time, but it's irrelevant in this discussion.
Back to fun. Paul really has me worried, I’ve read through his definition of a bloke and find I’m a bit of a failure! I only drink wine, have no idea what sport is, although I think it may be a term of reference when calling out to someone. I haven’t got a ute, me dog went to that great cattle yard in the sky some seven years ago and none of my car comments are dodgy, all of them are heartfelt and usually accompanied by vigorous hand movements. As for metrosexual – hmm! I’m a bachelor living in the inner CBD.
HereÂ’s to irreverence, long may it exist.
Cheers

Jeff & Greg,
Be proud and hold your heads up high at being failures as "blokes"
Because I'm certainly doing my best to keep up the side and be a failure as a "poof"
Between the lot of us we can all redefine the gender/sexuality wastelands.
So, Leah, while we're all busy being failures in our own right, are you willing to join us? What are YOU going to be a failure at?
[Honestly, have you ever been a failure at ANYTHING before?]
Disclaimer: I wholeheartedly apologise to anybody I may have offended by using the 'P' word. I though it the appropriate word to use in a discussion about "Blokes" and other ockerish stereotypes.
Yours
Paul Treasure
