Dialect and Accent workshop
Wed, 16 July 2003, 03:43 pmPACS Professional Development Workshop Program
Dialect and Accent Workshop with Brennan Murphy and Julia Moody
The Dialect and Accent Workshop will be a full day workshop that will cover general American, American Southern and New York accents in an interactive, practical way suitable for professional actors, teachers of accents and dialects, and anyone who would like to understand the process of learning an accent.
Brennan Murphy and Julia Moody have both been teaching accent work in the major actor training institutions in their respective countries and also acting as dialect coaches on countless productions.
They will work in groups and with individuals and expect to have a stimulating, fun, informative time.
Julia and BrennanÂ’s work is informed by the Fitzmaurice method. Fitzmaurice Voicework explores the dynamics between body, breath, voice, and language. It encourages vibrant voices that communicate intention and emotion without excess effort. The work brings together physical experience and mental focus.
Work texts will be provided as part of the workshop. However, if you have an audition monologue or scene in the accents that will be covered bring it along as itÂ’s always useful to work with a text you know well.
When: 10 am - 5 pm, August 10th 2003 (please be on time)
Where: Rechabites Hall 224 William St Northbridge
Cost: $80 Full / $60 Blue Room Members and Alliance Members
For further information contact Amber at The Blue Room Theatre on (08) 9227 7005 or by e mail at office@blueroom.net.au
