Good agents do not need to Advertise
Tue, 6 Nov 2012, 01:34 pmI have recently updated the FAQ Page about "Agents" that advertise for general casting purposes. I have basically added a Top Five Things to look for, and they are;
- Bad grammar and spelling, as in Nigerian SCAM like stuff. Read as CON.
- Generic Email Address. When the contact uses a bigpond email address, for a casting agency, it's not a sure sign of dodginess but it ain't good. I'm a poor actor and I have a bigpond email! What's that say about the agent.
- The Web Site is developed through Wix, or similar. A free, do-it-yourself web site? Clearly when you see on the cheap stuff like this, then you question either the motives or the experience.
- Grandiose promises without proof. It is real easy to promise, or even "guarantee!", big bucks, great gigs and stardom, but can they back it up, and for every applicant that they hope to get?
- And the TOP thing to look for: Advertising on a general jobs web site like SEEK. This should be a dead give away.
