Whilst that's probably an apt description of many productions, it seems particularly relevant to Blak Yak's latest show, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

I'm sure there are very few people who aren't aware of the plot, either from the play itself or the multi-Academy Award-winning movie starring Jack Nicholson. However, just in case, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest concerns ne'er do well Randall P. McMurphy. Faced with jail or a stint in a Mental Care Facility, the chronic gambler and rabble-rouser chooses the latter. Once committed, he quickly learns he's no longer in charge of his own fate. In a life or death battle of wills with the domineering head nurse, McMurphy encourages and inspires the other patients to come out of their shells with alternately hilarious and heartbreaking consequences.

A triumph of the spirit not to be missed. Performances on April 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12 at the Subiaco Theatre Centre. Tickets $14.95 and $12.95 through BOCS (9484 1133, booking fees apply). More info (and a really cool promo poster) on the "What's On" page.
