THEATRE ARTISTS SPEAK OUT AGAINST WAR
On Monday March 3rd over 600 readings of Aristophanes anti-war comedy Lysistrata will happen in nearly 40 different countries. Here in Perth many well-known local actors will mount our own reading, using an hilarious modern translation.
Lysistrata tells the story of women from opposing states who unite to end a war, using the only tatic available to them in ancient times: witholding sex with their husbands.
Today, faced with the prospect of massive loss of human life - both Iraqi and others - Lysistrata Project participants world-wide take a new tatic and add their voices to the mounting clamour of global anti-war protests.
Actors taking part in Perth include Jay Walsh, Diana Warnock, Edgar Metcalfe, Samantha Murray, Olivia Hogan, Dawn Yates, David Meadows and many, many more.
Donations will be taken for WA Refugee Alliance, The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and other peace organisations. Please give generously so they can carry on their important work.
