Sat, 21 Apr 2012, 01:21 pmAudition Notice – The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler
Information 10am-4pm, Saturday, May 12
Venue: Music Room, Kent Street Senior High School, 89 Kent Street, Kensington
Director: Megan Burley
An Obie Award-winning play of a forbidden zone, The Vagina Monologues introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her grand-daughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape and a feminist happy to have found a man who “liked to look at it”.
Cast needed: 4-6 females of ages ranging from 18-80.
Megan says: “I am looking for a range of ages and types of females that represent the broad cross-section of voices that are expressed through the play. There is a mix of monologues and ensemble work so the cast also need to blend well together.”
Auditions are by appointment and can be booked via mgmburley@westnet.com.au
Audition requirements: a monologue will be sent to auditionees one week prior for them to become familiar with it (not required to memorise).
A cold reading and some group work with fellow auditionees will also be asked of at the audition. Rehearsals will start in early June. The runs season from August 17 to September 1 at the Old Mill Theatre.
All enquiries should be sent to Megan at the email address provided above; do not leave a message here - by emailing, you will get an answer to your question.
