Calling for expressions of interest:
STREET PERFORMERS, BUSKERS
The Shire of Kalamunda is presenting the Corymbia Festival on March 15th, 2003, with the theme: Celebrating Our Community. The festival will be launched on Friday 14th with an outdoor cinema event for families, 'Flicks in the Foothills'. Saturday's festivities begin with a street parade, and Stirk Park in Kalamunda will be transformed into the 'Stirk Park Showcase'; featuring stalls, activities and performances throughout the day.

We expect at least 8,000 people to participate in the day's events, creating a fantastic opportunity for street performers and buskers to have fun and of course make money. The park will be buzzing with stalls from artisans, business people and community groups from the Hills area and beyond. Families will be attracted by a skateboard ramp, climbing wall, playground and animal nursery, and of course entertainment. The publicity campaign has already begun, and will include advertisements through all forms of media, an event programme and hopefully a live radio broadcast from the Stirk Park Showcase.

Funding is dependent on grant applications, so at this point we have a very limited budget for artist fees. We are, however, happy to assist artists in any way, including where appropriate providing a stage and sound system. Publicity will promote all entertainers involved in Corymbia, and a Master of Ceremonies will work together with performers to maximise audience numbers (and therefore takings).

Please contact Sarah to discuss any ideas you may have - we're open to suggestions! Sarah Ryan, Residents' Services Officer (Community and Cultural Development) 9257 9960 or sarah.ryan@kalamunda.wa.gov.au
