Auditions
Mon, 11 May 1998, 09:02 pmHave today read an all too familiar tale, this time from Olwyn Summers at Wanneroo who thought to cast "Busybody" a comedy-thriller a week or so ago.She needed four males, young to 50's. ONE lone male turned up.Why? the audition was well publicised both by Wanneroo and the ITA, what's happened to all the men out there, have they all gone off to war instead? are they all 'in something'? can't they be bothered? WHERE ARE ALL YOU MALE ACTORS?As Olwyn says, many clubs and directors are accused of pre-casting, but just what is a director to do whern no-one turns up to an audition?????It's very very depressing for director, club and the women who do bother to turn up in good faith that there will be an audition.Do all the men out there simply sit and wait for a begging phone-call or what.Perhaps someone out there will have some theories, or even answers?!Norma Davis (Secretary ITA)
