You know that cool thing you do? I can't remember exactly, but isn't it theatrical / circus-y / musical / burlesque-y, and really fun and you want everyone to watch you do it? Arthur B's Fringe Affair is looking for people to come along and do something cool. Consider this your opportunity to get a little stage-time to show everyone that awesome thing you do which is also dead sexy. (Was it card tricks?) Performers get up to 10 minutes to perform whatever they like: an audition monologue; a new poem or song; the first scene of a play in development; a magic or cabaret or burlesque act/excerpt; live painting or drawing; a new standup routine or comedy sketch. The idea is to give artists (in the broad sense of the word) an opportunity to test out new material or try something different to what they normally do. Our first show is on Wednesday 16th March 2011 at the Hive Bar in Erskineville, and will run every 2nd Wednesday after that. So, you know that thing you do that you've really wanted to try out in front of a friendly audience? Well, we are now accepting expressions of interest to perform at Arthur B's Fringe Affair. Check out the website http://www.fringeaffair.com/ or contact arthurb@fringeaffair.com with your details. Let us know: * Who the performers are (we don't need full bios - just a couple of lines will be fine) * What you want to do (in brief, or provide a script) * How long you need (up to 10 minutes) * What nights you are available to perform (Wednesday 16 March, Wednesday 30 March) Things you should know: * We'll just have the basics - lights, house PA, and hopefully a little stage. * We'd love you to bring a few people to be in the audience. * You're doing it for love, not money. (We're not making money either.) * We want you to have fun, and maybe challenge yourself. We don't care if it's not polished, or hilarious, or whatever. There will be no casting agents in the audience. We want you to be entertaining, but we don't care if you fail. * The first half of the show will have about 5-8 short acts. The second half will be a longer act of around 50 minutes - please stick around and support that as well. (If you're interested in doing something for the second act, let us know.) * Who is organising this? Just three guys who want a little stage time, and want to provide the same for other performers. Even if you're not ready to perform now, or you're not cast in either of our first two shows, we'd love you to come along and support it.
