Thanks for this posting – certainly can help fill you in on “what’s going on?”
The original owners sold Brent Street to a private company owned by the Fairfax family.(This is not the same organisation as the well known Fairfax Media, which often gets mistaken.) The family is very focused on holistic education in a variety of forms, including dance, which is why they chose to purchase Brightstars Performing Arts Academy (not the children’s talent agency) in 2008, now named ClubHouze and Brent Street in early 2009.
In terms of what’s happening at Brent Street, the aim is to make Brent Street a positive choice for students who are serious about a career in the performing arts. A number of new and exciting initiatives are in progress to help support this vision and give students a greater chance of achieving their dreams. The student numbers remain limited via audition for TDHS and the Full Time School to provide a level of excellence and opportunities to these students.
While the old owners have recently moved on, a new management team has been created to help Brent Street achieve this vision. Suzy Yates, General Manager has made an incredible contribution to Brent Street over the past 12 months with a number of very exciting announcements during this time.
Recent announcements for Brent Street have included the appointment of the Artistic Council comprising of Caroline O’Connor, Steven Heathcoat, Wayne Harrison and Kellie Dickerson. Two weeks ago, Brent Street announced Cameron Mitchell as the new Artistic Director who has enjoyed 17 years at the school.
Among many other individual success stories this year, Brent Street has recently celebrated some exceptional results at Hollywood Eisteddfod and the City of Sydney Eisteddfod which has been very exciting and has injected more energy into the staff, students and families at Brent Street!
If you would like more information about Brent Street, please do not hesitate to give us a call or pop in and see the team who would be more than happy to have a chat.
