Re: RIP Ruth Cracknell
A sad day for all who frequent this board, and for the Australian acting landscape.
A minute's silence if you please.
Thank you. And thank you, Ruth, for everything.

And not speaking of silences, Robyn Nevin recounts a story told by Ruth:
---
She told how, in this last production, she remarked to Pamela Rabe back stage one night that the previous night's performance had been her worst.
Pam waited.
Then Ruth: ''But of course my worst is better than most people's best." Pam smiled. She had known to wait.

Re: RIP Ruth Cracknell
Great story. Great lady. Great loss.
I call on every show currently playing in Australia to dim their lights and observe a minute of silence for our first lady of theatre, sadly passed.
The heavens make a star of her.

Re: RIP Ruth Cracknell
Ruth made us laugh ... she made us cry.... she made us cringe with embarrassment and beat the wall in frustration through her outstanding portrayal of the wonderfully quirky character Maggie Beare - the mother that all of us dread our mothers becoming!
In all of this she was a lady of grace, poise and a wonderful ambassador for Australian theatre and entertainment.
Vale Ruth - and thanks for the many wonderful memories.
