Lords and Ladies
Tue, 7 May 2002, 09:33 amI've got an idle question.....
Are Arena A&E really still auditioning for Lords and Ladies? I thought this had been cast and was well into rehearsals by now. In fact, they've even got auditions on the dates they're performing.....
Although I'm not interested in auditioning - I am curious.

Although rehearsals for Lords and Ladies are well under way, Arena have been auditioning on and off to fill in holes created by people getting jobs, being accepted into drama schools overseas, businesses deciding to be very successful and other such things. That's the nature of non-paid theatre.
It would be lovely if we could pay people so much that they didn't have to go off and earn a living elsewhere but, sadly, we're not in that position.
Having to replace a person here and a person there does give the impression of a never-ending stream of auditions but it's really just an illusion.
As for auditions being held on performance dates, well, that's either one of Simon's famous typos or he's decided to replace me and hasn't told me yet!

Re: Lords and Ladies
ARENA is chugging on through it's rehearsals of LORDS AND LADIES. At this stage, all casting is complete. Since we started rehearsing we have had to re-cast a few roles and auditions for these have been posted on this website from time to time. Well, with a cast of 29, there's bound to be a few changes needed as people's circumstances change. As to the mention of audition dates being the same as performance dates, I don't know where that is from or how it happened (honestly officer). LORDS AND LADIES is performing at the Hayman Theatre JULY 10 - 13 and 17 - 20. There, hope the curiousity is satiated.
