Nick Enright
Sun, 17 Feb 2002, 11:40 amJust heard the sad news yesterday that Nick Enright, great contemporary Aussie playwright of 'Black Rock', 'Spurboard', 'Boy From Oz' and numerous musical collaborations with WAAPA's David King, has been diagnosed with cancer. WAAPA has a Nick Enright tribute planned for this year (organised prior to his diagnosis) which, unfortunately, he will no longer be involved with as much as originally anticipated.
Thoughts go out to Mr Enright, his family and friends.

RE: Nick Enright
That is so sad to hear.
I actually did "Blackrock" last year and it was a wonderful piece.
My Enright if you ever see this. You Rock.

Having worked with this god of theatre I am saddened to hear this news.
He writes really good theatre and is a wonder with theatre students. If "Five Sevens" is ever produced for the real theater I will be forever be grateful.
Nick can't be ill. He must live forever.

Five Sevens
Fiona, is the play you are referring to 'Five Sevens' about a man who documents the lives of five children from the age of seven?
If so, the STC recently premiered this play under the name of 'A Man With Five Children.' A really good production, I might add.

It is very sad, but let's not write him off just yet, rather lets hope and pray he can overcome this horrible disease. Experience has taught me that a cancer patient will always appreciate your hope over your pity. You can also show your appreciation for Mr Enrights work in March when the Academies musical theatre students perform his new musical 'The Good Fight'. Whispers from the stage manager (my sister) say it will be VERY good.
Have strength Nick Enright. FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT.

Dear Nick Enright,
I studied your work at university, I enjoyed your plays in the theatre. You must go on producing the good work you do...as they say cancer is a word not a life sentence....I hope you get better very soon.
Regards Melissa
P.S. Doctors are often wrong about things. Last year a Doctor told me one week that I probably had cervical cancer....he did another test and left me to worry and fret about what might have been. A fortnight later he said there was nothing wrong with me at all....eeek I said...ran out of his office....got several other opinions...all said I was fine......so a big raspberry to the experts!
