Anti-Discrimination..??

I wonder if there are any Anti-discrimination laws that apply to the following situation? To whom should I lodge a complaint?

I recently applied for a job that advertised that it only wanted to employ males. They wouldnÂ’t consider anyone from a non-anglo background, or anyone aged over 40. The job description was vague to say the least, and there was little indication of money offered, apart from assuming the basic minimum wage.

The interview lasted only a few minutes. I was given only a few minutes notice to prepare my presentation. They took one look at me, made personal inquiries about my voice, height, weight, lack of hairÂ…and hardly looked at my resume. They spent more time measuring my chest. They informed me at the interview that I may have to wear a revealing costume. I was expected to kiss one of the staff, in front of everybody, to get the job.

On a previous occasion when I had applied for a similar job, I was rejected because they didnÂ’t like my face. This time however, I was offered the job because I looked more unusual than the woman they wanted me to work with.

On the first day at work, I was given little direction, an extremely cramped working space, and made to wait around for hours before I could actually start my job. I was made aware that any mistakes I made would be recorded and put on public display, but given very little opportunity to correct them.

I never met the boss. I was dismissed at the end of the day. Two months later, and IÂ’m yet to be paid.

IÂ’ve had no contact since from anyone from the company, donÂ’t even really know how to get in touch - and yet if they offered, IÂ’d work for them again.

Any guesses what industry I work in?

RE: Anti-Discrimination..??

Its craaazzzeeee what we do when you think about it isn't it!!! Reading that makes you think how horrible some things in this world are, how mean people can be...why would anyone put up with that crap for 2 whole months!!!

It's not until those last few lines that you realise - YOU and ME are the type of people who somehow LOVE working in that crazy industry!!!

Well put though...and yet reading it still doesn't deter me...just makes me stronger!!!

Thanks so much!!!

RE: Anti-Discrimination..??

When you put it that way... holy crap.

It IS amazing what people will put up with, and how much of it and even the fact that they would turn around the next day and do it all over again. What do they put in our water???
