I'm looking for an extras agency that has low joining fee and guaranteed work, in Melbourne. Does anyone know any and have had experience with them?

Well, for a start you need

Well, for a start you need to read the FAQ here on this site about agencies, because you clearly don't know that legit agents DON'T charge upfront fees. Secondly you need to realise that there's no such thing as guaranteed work in the arts (especially acting), and anyone who does promise you that is likely to be dodgy. Extras work in melb

I am completly new to any of this industry and am also looking to get into Extra work. I have been talking wth Australian Talent Management and am wondering if anyone is with this company, if its reputable and ........ They have asked for a $199 fee for the photographer and they pay the Full fee for portfolio and take 10% on jobs. Can anyone help me. Feeling very confused by all the posts and need a little guidance.

Have a look at this conversation. While QLD, it's still relevant.

Additionally, in QLD and other countries, Joining Fees are illegal. Generally speaking Agency Joining fees are frowned upon. An agency should only take a cut of your earnings.

You should also have the option of providing your own photos rather than attend a Photo shoot. This should not be compulsory, only optional. If you don't have photos, then ask if you can source your own photographer rather than using their nominated one. Otherwise, you can take up the offer of a photographer.

Research several agencies by trawling the Internet and asking them a set of questions, then compare. Don't get stuck with just one. A good starting list can be found on the Alliance Website.

Be wary of asking for opinions as you may find it hard to separate fact from fiction.

Consider Union Membership if you are serious about Professional work. With membership, you will have legal support if required.

Good luck.
