PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE people!!!!! When someone posts an audition notice on this page RESPOND TO THEM PERSONALLY!!! This means clicking on their name at the top of their message and sending them an email. Posting back onto this page and telling the whole world you are interested IS POINTLESS and above all ANNOYING.

I know this has been said before (thank you Amanda) but the other readers of this notice board do not need to become involved in audition time negotions and CV swapping. You have a far better chance of getting an audition by emailing the director and asking for one. Not just randomly telling the world you are interested and waiting for the Hollywood movie offers to start flooding in.

OK it's early and some stole my "Have you seen this chicken?" mug, but, grumpy Leah or no, I beleive the point is still a good one.

RE: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!

Quite apart from anything else, I really don't think it's a good idea to type, "Hi, I'm a beautiful, blonde, 18-year old actress who'll try anything, and here's my phone number....." onto the world wide web for all to see.

Not only is it potentially fraught with dire repercussions, but I believe Dean Schulze invented this type of posting and is quite likely to initiate legal proceedings if you infringe upon his copyright.

RE: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!

I support Leah's posting on the above, grumpy or not.
Quite often you have absolutely no idea to which audition they are referring, and , as the lady says it's easy enough to click on the person's name and reply direct. It would save much confusion and frustration all round!

Perhaps, but please have patience with the Luddites out there like me who are perhaps unaware of the discrete charms of the protocols of net-ness.

RE: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!

I agree, there is nothing worse than seeing "Actor/actress looking for work" being posted because I just think to myself "join the club". I you are looking for work, start looking, because unless you have conections it rarely comes to you.

Go grumpy Leah

Hi Norma

According to Webster's,

clackdish = a dish or moneybox with a moveable lid, formerly carried by beggars, who attracted attention by clacking the lid.

I think, in the context of the insult, "clack" is also read to mean "continual and heedless talk; prattle; chatter".

Cheers

RE: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!

Hi folks,
One little point.
If you have the postings on this site forwarded to you via e-mail, they do NOT contain the individual's e-mail address at the top.
I would therefore agree that it is advisable to include your e-mail address in the text of your message, as Amanda suggested, if you are fishing for replies.
Cheers,
Jonno.

Ah yes. Sounds like a feasible suggestion, but to keep with the fishing metaphor, it's a red herring.

If you get the posting delivered to you via email (as I do), and you wish to reply, you have to click on the weblink that sends you to their posting on the site...and then you're back to where we started - their email link is right there at the top waiting for your reply.
So you can always choose to reply to the individual or to the whole board.

Choose wisely.

Cheers.
Craig

Do you people have anything else to talk about except non stop bitching about little pointless things. This website is turning more into a bitching and GOSSIP page every day, i think if you all get a life and some of the old fart's move on we could make the performing arts in perth amazing!

RE: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!

Dear :)

I think you forgot to note the name of the mesage board at the top GREEN ROOM GOSSIP and if you had any real theatre experience you would know that what is said here is no different from what is said in green rooms, dressing rooms, in the wings, in the dress circle bar and in rehearsal rooms all around the world.

And maybe you could make the perth arts scene amazing by shutting up and letting the professionals get on with it!

Nice little pointless, bitchy comment. Welcome to the team.

But you also bring up an interesting point. When does one qualify to become an old fart? I remember thinking the same thing when I first started; inject some new blood, get rid of the old school...
Now, some 15 years later, the arts scene keeps evolving, ebbing and flowing, and some of those original "old school" that I wanted to shove on are STILL hanging around, getting work; only now I think "Good on 'em", and aspire to be as talented and productive as they have been in their careers. In fact, I realise that that was my goal all along, to BECOME an "old fart"!

So how do I know when this goal has been achieved? I guess once this year's "new blood" start including ME in the group they want to move on, I qualify...but of course, that's exactly when I'm going to hang around (just like a fart, I guess), to enjoy my newly achieved status.
(I was pleased to note, when we got reviewed for Soap On A Rope, that the reviewer expressed surprise at how "young" I still am...so I guess it's not a function of age, just how long I've been hanging around.)

I think the approach to adopt is not so much to wait for the old farts to blow away and hope that will make things improve (believe me, that's not enough); I think if you consider yourself a "new breath of fresh air" then it's up to you to breeze in and start whipping up a storm!
The arts scene is not going to improve if you just waft around, wishing that someone will move on to create a space for you. You need to blow your own trumpet, start to kick up the dust, and do your best to overtake us...then there WILL be an amazing arts scene in Perth, as the challenges mount and a cross-flow of ideas, energy and experience combine into turbine power.

So blow me!

Cheers,
Craig
