At least spell it right!

Finley, not Finlay, or Findlay, or Finly!

Did I get nominated?

Did I get nominated? Probably...

Feeling the pain...

My one line walk-on part for one night in "Ruthless" didn't score me a nod for a Best Support in a musical....and the line was delivered with such poignancy. I thought my death "fall" was pretty good too. Perhaps I should have sung the line......
Bass GuyMon, 4 Jan 2010, 02:06 pm

Now I've been ever so well behaved, but....

... I can't resist! I've been nominated, and everyone's having a good giggle at the irony of it all (me included), but at least this thread will give me the opportunity to complain about being in the running. Whinge moan complain whine. And a bloody good laugh as well... Eliot McCann
MusicalMumMon, 4 Jan 2010, 02:12 pm

Alas, poor Frederick.....

....so, can we concede at this point on behalf of the 12 odd 'Fredericks' that it is indeed an outrage that none got a nod? ;) Oops, guess that's actually 11 right, since one is a "Professional"....lol....[insert evil grin here] Or is it more befitting the thread that each and every one of them, get a little moment to whine? ;)
Paul TreasureMon, 4 Jan 2010, 02:43 pm

Freddy the Pro

AH! But did the pro Frederick get paid for playing Frederick? If not then he was actually eligible according to the rules... He was robbed, dammit, robbed I say! Best Male MT Performer should have been filled with the Fredericks!!! Even then... It would still have meant two would have to have been left off the list... I wonder which two? ;-)
LabrugMon, 4 Jan 2010, 03:35 pm

Mine first

Mine was far better. Massive face plant making full use of the hollow stage and a short improvised line prior to departure. Your's couldn't have been better. ;-)

That would imply...

That would mean that the adjudicators would have had to have seen EVERY PERFORMANCE!!! At least three present every night, preferably the same three... Nah, doesn't work. Computer says "No".

Knifed in the ... Tombstone!

I cannot believe it!

I was sure there would be a new award for Ham 'Acting' and I was convinced I would be the inaugural winner, for my astounding performance in TIP TOE THROUGH THE TOMBSTONES.

Without putting too fine a point on it, my death scene was, well ... unforgettable AND, as I had so few lines (a MINOR!!! role Madame Director!!), for once, I didn't even muff the three or four, admittedly poignant words entrusted to me.

Worse! Worse! I see that, that, that woman!, with her leopard skin pill-box hat and her heaving breasts, HAS been (has been? Me?) nominated.

The whole things obviously rigged!

Greg Ross Esquire.

MusicalMumMon, 4 Jan 2010, 05:17 pm

Scandal amongst the Fredericks........

LOL......men paid to be Frederick?? Gigolos in our midst?! Scandalous I say :)tee hee..... As for all the Finley adjudicators having to come to almost every performance we did....hey....we could have used the boost to our audience numbers!! ;)
jeffhansenMon, 4 Jan 2010, 05:32 pm

I'm annoyed, not at the

I'm annoyed, not at the Finleys, but at K. Shaw in particular. After inviting me to be Frederick-for-a-night, I was left off the list!!! Never got to do the bit in Ruthless. I think it's an anti-Melville scheme I tell you!!!! :) www.meltheco.org.au

 'Heaving breasts', Mr

'Heaving breasts', Mr Gross? I'm surprised that you noticed the hat!

Now, kindly direct me to where I can see 'that woman' if you please. I like hats!

You can't have

You can't have everything, you had your moment of glory in Putnam County Spelling Bee. And there,s an idea, a special adjudicators award for "Best guest speller in a musical".
Greg RossMon, 4 Jan 2010, 09:04 pm

That, That, That Woman!

My dear Mr Prosser

Apologies, working out how to paste a picture on this site has always been utterly beyond me, however, I will now post a sample picture on Facebook and you will see the TOTALLY unfair advantage she had the rest of us under - especially Rod!

Yours in disamy at not being nominated

Mr G Ross Esq.

Rubbish

What a rubbish idea T Coulton
jmuzzTue, 5 Jan 2010, 12:03 pm

Careful guys

The fun police are around. If it's the same T Coulton who posted in other threads about the Finleys I find it amusing they continue to take an interest in threads about a subject they clearly disapprove of. THAT seems to be a rubbish idea and surely their time would be better invested elsewhere? ;)
Bass GuyTue, 5 Jan 2010, 12:14 pm

Careful, jmuzz....

"...I find it amusing they continue to take an interest in threads about a subject they clearly disapprove of." I do this all the time... am I wasting my time? Hee hee hee...

His and Hers

I will laugh my head off if His and Hers comes off.
Bass GuyTue, 5 Jan 2010, 01:54 pm

Quite safe.

I think the stability of your neck/head alignment is not in any danger... there'll be no double. In fact, someone should run a book on who gets what...
Walter PlingeTue, 5 Jan 2010, 04:19 pm

The book

No they should run a book on who is most likely to spit the dummy and throw a hissy when they don't win....that's easier to pick.
Bass GuyTue, 5 Jan 2010, 04:24 pm

Easier to pick...

....but harder to make a buck on 1:1 odds, innit?
LabrugTue, 5 Jan 2010, 04:35 pm

Other Odds

Any easier if you pick to Non-wingeres? (EDIT: It's Late...) ... Nah ... too wide a field to choose from ;-)

Cards on the table.

OK. I reckon Izaak Lim will get the Best Male Actor award. Heard he was excellent from many sources. And he's welcome to it.
BruschkaTue, 5 Jan 2010, 10:17 pm

Well...

If some pigs happen to fly over a frozen hell on Finley night and I happen to win for Ruthless, I shall invite all of my lovely Fredericks onto the stage with me to receive the credit they truly deserve! But don't hold your breath boys... ;)
Walter PlingeSat, 9 Jan 2010, 10:57 pm

You know for someone that

You know for someone that doesn't care...this Finley buisness is obviously something that Mr Bass Guy coverts. Good luck, by the way we all know by now you have have been nominated so just leave it will you? If you don't win this you are going to look like an utter fool. After all I havent read anything from the other nominees...weird?
Bass GuySat, 9 Jan 2010, 11:41 pm

Surely you mean "covets"?

My infantile pedantry aside, the anonymous "Theatre Goer" raises a good point- no other nominee has commented thus far. Why is this? I would venture a guess that it's because the other nominees might actually want to win! Any adverse comment might jinx them! You know what superstitious creatures actors can be... Umm, no- I won't "leave it" (as you so politely request) until the nomination is rescinded. Do it, ITA- I dares ya! If I don't win, I won't look any more of a fool than I do normally. In fact I will be vindicated because I have stated from the get-go that I won't win. If I (by some hideous freakish fate) DO win the blasted thing, then I will have to put Plan B into effect.... whatever Plan B might actually be... haven't thought that far ahead, as I'm relying on Plan A to come off. As you may have gathered from my previous postings, and from this one too, the Finley awards is something I do not take the remotest bit seriously. I won't even be there. But I can't resist poking the Finley Bear when it raises its ursine head.... Eliot McCann (who at least has the balls to sign his real name on his posts).
Freddie BadgerySun, 10 Jan 2010, 12:35 am

There for you buddy...

My offer to do a Pete Smith impression still stands. freddie the rocking jedi badger
Ray CondySun, 10 Jan 2010, 11:14 am

Plan B

Elliot, if you win, you could consider Plan B -- giving it me. Ray Condy, real name supplied as my pseudonym is a secret. That's Ray, with two balls, at least the last time I checked anyway. PS I will be happy if I just win the raffle.
Walter PlingeMon, 11 Jan 2010, 04:43 pm

Covets Indeed

I would like everyone to know that I am a nominee and that I fully expect and deserve to win and that if anyone else wins not only will I take the storm the stage to take the award, I will cry and scream if/when it is wrestled from me and handed to the actual winner. I will then write nasty anonymous posts on this website about that winner and all of the judges, especially the pretty ones (Hi OJ!), about how they're all biased and only vote for their mates and how dare they and it's all rigged etc etc. You've all been warned.
Robert J WhyteWed, 13 Jan 2010, 11:58 am

Yawn.

Why not?

"Theatre Goer" raises a good point- no other nominee has commented thus far. Why is this? - I would imagine it's because the opener asked for people who hadn't been nominated to share a grape or two of the not so tasty variety. Me, I can't complain... well I can actually cos I only have one nom and I want three as my body of work was damn good this year and if I do get the award it goes to the theatre group and not me as my name isn't on it AND if I win I probably don't get it as there will probably be a big hoo haa about the technicality of how professional I am in my field so I will have to politely put it down and walk away anyway. Does it count that I haven't put my invoice in yet?? :-P What larks Pip! "In my work I do three things - Good, Cheap and Fast - if you employ me you may choose two" (Cam Ford)
Merri FordFri, 22 Jan 2010, 12:28 am

Ooooh a rant!

Lol Leah, and you got minimalised too. Aww now I want to go just to see you win/lose/be obnoxious. "In my work I do three things - Good, Cheap and Fast - if you employ me you may choose two" - Cam Ford
Robert J WhyteFri, 22 Jan 2010, 06:21 am

I agree Merri

Yes and even when you try to make a positive statement you get moderated down within less than a minute....thank god for cut and paste is all I can say.

is robert j whyte the same talentless bore i think he may be? ps bass guy will you be attending the awards???? pps dont moderate this down...its silly

Bass GuyFri, 22 Jan 2010, 12:00 pm

In absentia.

Nope, I'll be absent from the proceedings. Given my previous blitherings I would have thought that was obvious to all and sundry... ;-) I'll be home putting the kiddies to bed, finishing recordings and awaiting the inevitable...
Walter PlingeFri, 22 Jan 2010, 12:23 pm

with fingers crossed...so

with fingers crossed...so transparent its funny
Bass GuyFri, 22 Jan 2010, 01:28 pm

Hilarity abounds...

... but no fingers will be crossed on my hands; I'm no longer a nominee, so my forecast of "not winning" has come true! El
David HardieFri, 22 Jan 2010, 01:48 pm

Hoorah for Leah!

At last someone is telling it like it is! Seriously: Could everyone please calm down. Take a cold shower, have a bex, a cup of tea and a lie down, take a deep breath or whatever. But everyone needs to get this into perspective. For the record: I am planning to go there, play for two sets and enjoy myself. I was involved in two productions that are nominated and I have friends in several others. I will not think any less of anyone who misses out on any award and I will be happy for anyone who takes one (or more) home.
Walter PlingeFri, 22 Jan 2010, 10:04 pm

why no longer a nominee?

why no longer a nominee? did they deem you as ungrateful?
LabrugFri, 22 Jan 2010, 10:51 pm

Umm...

Did you miss that bit? He specifically ask to be removed and they removed him. I think that demonstrates "sticking to your principles" quite adequately.
