We have here at our disposal technology to reach out, communicate and exchange thoughts, opinions, ideas, conventions, and in doing so we can learn more about ourselves and others... and also this craft we hold to be of great worth.

Young "me" (and yes, I assume "me" is young) is only using said technology for a puerile round of kiss-chasey.

So it's not so much that we're mean, "me"; just that we lack the patience to put up with your infantile tripe.
