Photo's on web site
Fri, 26 Oct 2001, 11:33 amHowdy all!
Just a quick one. Who chooses the pics on the home page and what do you have to do to get one in the rotation. I think it's great seeing all the snippits from the different shows.

I think they are randomly selected from the 'collection' that Grant has. If you want some of your club photos on the site then contact Grant Malcolm and he will give you all the gen.

RSPCMA
Royal society for the prevention of cruelty and mis-use of the apostrophe.
Nothing belongs to the photos therefore the apostrophe isn't posessive.
No letters have been omitted (Yes photo is an abbrebiation for photograph but is an accepted word in its own right) (and no there isn't an abbreviation required for its, it's one of the exceptions to the rule) therefore it's not an abbreviation.

RE: Photo's on web site
Hi everyone,
Grant has been kind enough to let me implement an image database at Theatre Australia as part of my work experience for Diploma of Information Systems at Central TAFE.
As Norma has kindly pointed out, the images are randomly selected from a list of currently available images. In the near future...
(1) frontpage image (a random image every time the page load) will link to a page containing more information about the event
(2) Companies will have the ability to upload image for an event (new or existing)
The new functions will hopefully be implemented sometime next week, *fingers crossed*
cheers,
Linda

"Grant has been kind enough"?
I'd like to assure everyone that having Linda offer to assist in this regard has been a boon to me! This project would probably never have got off the ground if Linda and her TAFE lecturer, Stephen Hastings, hadn't offered to help out. So, my heart felt thanks to them both!

Where do I join up? :-) I was beginning to think Philip Adams and I were the only weird freaks who knew how to use apostrophes...

PS So what about CDs (i.e. multiple compact discs)? I got in a knock-down drag-out fight with someone who insisted it was CD's...
PPS Sorry - pedant alert :-} The RSPCMA didn't leave a personal email...

I'm with this guy -

There is a shop at Myaree with an advertising sign reading
"Bicycle's For Sale"
One day I'm going to stop and ask them, 'Bicycles WHAT for sale'

RE: RSPCMA
This is an off shoot of the above society named RSPDOPW (Royal society for the prevention of the disappearance of the objective pronoun of who, ie. whom). Where has "whom" disappeared to? Even TV announcers can't find it, neither can anyone connected with the printed media. Is it extinct or merely endangered?

RE: Photo's on web site
Hello everyone,
Apologies to all who have been expecting to upload their images via the web. File uploading is still being tested and a notice will be given as soon as it goes live.
Thanks to Grant for all your help and support.
cheers,
Linda
p.s. I would like to apologise for my 'insult' on the previous posts =) Perhaps one day we'll have an 'apologise' button to counter 'insult' one day *grin*
