The great Eric Morecambe once said: “If you go bald at the front, you’re a great thinker. If you go bald at the back, you’re a great lover. If you go bald at the front and the back, you just think you’re a great lover.” I now find myself in the latter predicament. I personally have no issue with my current appearance outside the stage, but it’s hard to imagine yourself auditioning for the romantic lead when you look like Curly from the Three Stooges (nyuk nyuk), so hair pieces must be considered an option every now and then, even if it’s only to change your appearance to suit a particular role (I recently had to play three different roles in the one play, and wigs were the quickest way to make the change). Anyone know of any good theatrical wig / hair piece suppliers, either for purchase or long term hire (eg the run of a play)? Not the el-cheapo models you find in novelty stores that shed more often than my cats, but decent items that will stand the test of time, and an observant audience?? Thanks muchly.
