Spivy's Roof

I was lucky enough to catch a fabulous new cabaret show at the Bridge Theatre last night. "Spivy's Roof", put on by Act 1 Scene 1, is a collection of their favorite songs from musicals. The venue was perfect for the show, it's a dark sexy little space underneath the main auditorium.

The singers were terrific. I've been fortunate to have performed with Act 1 Scene one in their March season of Chicago at the the Bridge. I therefore am well acquainted with the talents of Julia Jenkins, Grant Capriotti, Jen Murdoch, Alicia Broad, Jared Newall and Lara Thew. Jarrod West and Nick Christo were brilliant additions to the cast. The professionalism and energy of the performers cannot be denied. Their choreography was simple but slick, and they looked like they were having an absolute ball!

The show went too quickly for my liking, I could have happily listened to a few more numbers! Well done all of you!

I shall finish by saying that this was the first time I've heard Nick Christo sing. He is quite simply extrordinary. His first number was "Don't Cry Out Loud", and from his first note, had me mesmerised. I found it very difficult keeping it together through the song, it was just sublime! WHAT a talent!

Again congradulations to the whole cast, you were bloody tops!!!!
