LauncestonOneActPlayfestival
Mon, 30 July 2001, 11:11 amThere is interest in creating a substantial one act drama festival in Launceston, Tasmania which:
1. Is for amateur and small professional companies, hopefully from around Australia not just Tasmania
2. Has a corporate sponsor and provides significant prizes (in the thousands of $$)
3. Links in with the successful food and wine festival in the region called Festival of the Senses that runs over 10 days in February
4. Will involve the broader community on a volunteer basis
5. Will be packaged as a tourist event and sold via tourist distribution channels as well as via drama channels
Question: Is anyone doing anything similar in other parts of Australia or overseas (ie not just a drama festival alone)? Is there any possible synergy with other festivals of one acts or folk or whatever? Are there any "traps for young players" we should avoid?
