My name is Jeff Caster. I am new to Australia and am having a H@#L of a time finding a friendly and interested ear and mind to discuss the film/television and theatre industries. I am represented in Germany but not here. I am interested in answers to questions both simple and complex. (IE.Do professional actors use 8x10 headshots or can I use the less expensive 13cm x 18 cm heads that I use in Germany. Who must one please in order to interest Aussie agents in representing one? My questions and info needs are legion. I would love to find one or two sympathetic parties to talk with and comiserate with. I invite you to google me if you would like to see my credits. I could reciprocate with info of Euro markets!!! You might also want to check out the Australian 'actors equity', MEAA, at www.alliance.org.au Secondly, perhaps you might want to be more specific about what kinds of conversations you want to have? Does this mean you just want to meet and greet people, or are you interested in collaborations and producing work? Thank you for your answers. I am actively searching all of your suggestions and advice.I am searching for agents and work. If you have googled me then you know i have done alot of film and theatre work. What I need is to know is the answer to easy starter questions like "Do professional actors use 8x10 headshots or can I use the less expensive 13cm x 18 cm heads that I use in Germany?" Are there directing opportunities for alien directors. Can I network effectively or should I focus on attending auditions? As for my location in Oz I am in Armidale NSW...I know there is no professional work here but I am available to be in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne in 8 hours. I hope that won't cause the industry people to write me off out of hand. I would love to collaborate on projects. I direct, dialect coach (U.S. Dialects only),I teach and I am anxious to work I would love to hear about theater companies that welcome new works. I've got a new play to send out.
