As my very first production for a very long time, I'm producing/directing a Variety Night in my little country seaside town....I've had some fantastic help from the wonderful people here before, and now I need to ask for help again! With less than a week to go, I have had 3 acts and the MC pull out! Talk about a NIGHTMARE- I have managed to fill in a spot, but I am stuck for a song we can use for a Finale to make up for the shorter program- we are looking for something simple, yet with a heap of WOW factor! We have the most fantastic male and female singer, who will lead the singing..... Also, is there somewhere I can go to find a pre-written/easily adaptable script for an MC? Thank you again, for ANY help you care to send our way! email- tumbybaydramaclub@yahoo.com

You poor thing! No wonder you panicked and forgot to put where you are on your post (it's South Australia for those who don't know where Tumby Bay is. Umm, I'm guessing you need a song that everyone knows and can join in on? If you want a touch of what I call schmaltz how about "I Still Call Australia Home"? Or you might like to think about "There's No Business Like Show Business" from Annie Get Your Gun. Get everyone in the show on stage to belt out the chorus? Photocopies of the words on each seat (or in the program) for the audience? Sadly the MC problem is a bit harder to solve. An MC usually works off the cuff, must have a sense of humour, know something about the acts and be the glue. What about you? Or if the thought really sends you into panic (it's not for everyone) do you have a local or nearby Rotary Group? Even better a Rostrum? Rostrum specialises in public speaking. Rotary groups often have speakers and might know of someone. Alternatively a local or nearby radio personality might fit the bill. Will keep thinking and post again if inspired. Good luck!
