Hi everbody that looks at this. I am wanting to become an actress. I have done A LOT of research into the industry to make sure I know as much as possible, and I still want to study. However I am unsure of where to study. I was wondering if anyone is able to recommend any places that they have studied at or know of in the Gold Coast/Brisbane region. I have come up with three schools that offer diploma/advanced diploma courses. The Actors Workshop, The Actors Conservatory, and The Academy of screen performance and of course the degrees at the various uni's in the area. I am wanting to focus mainly on acting for the screen and I am aware that this is a theatre site, however i thought someone may have some advice for me on which places offer the best education. Thanks heaps :)

I'm sure other people will

I'm sure other people will be able to tell you more about QLD opportunities - but they will also add: What is your age? You haven't mentioned it, and it will impact on the advice given. For instance, you may want to consider moving interstate - but this is only useful advice if you are of an age where it is easier to do so. If you do want to go interstate, think about the 'trinity' (NIDA, WAAPA, VCA), or many of the other educational facilities around Australia. There are a number of places that offer specific screen acting courses as well. I recommend you sign up with QuietOnSet.com.au, which regularly lists a range of courses (both theatre and screen) available across the country. Then I'd suggest doing a search on this site for some threads about QLD training; otherwise wait until a QLD'er posts a reply to this. I'm afraid I don't know anything about your local area.
