Australia's premier dance magazine is Dance Australia. You can't get it from many newsagencies, although I know one on Rockeby Road in Subiaco carries it, as does a newsagent on Murray Street in the city. There are six issues per year (i.e. one every two months). If you want to order it through a local newsagent, the publishing company is Yaffa Publishing Group. Dance Australia has a regular column on music theatre, and up and coming auditions (although you would need an eastern states agent/have amazing contacts to be able to actually /get/ an audition).
Dance Europe is another one, but it is very expensive, and rarely talks about the Australian dance/music theatre scene, unless the Oz Ballet or Sydney Dance is touring over there.
If you're really hard core, Brolga is Australia's main dance journal, which has most of the same writers as Dance Australia, but not nearly as many pictures (a big minus in my
book :-) Ausdance also releases a local dance publication whose name escapes me at the moment. It's a bit boring, anyhow, since like much of the Yarts in Perth, West Aussie dance isn't exactly a healthy and thriving scene.
As for theatre magazines - Kim? Grant? I think Kim Shaw actually writes for one so hopfully she'll respond to your post.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Amanda Chesterton
