A tremendous loss has occurred within our international industry.

Harry Secombe -- actor, comedian, singer, and all round good guy -- has died, aged 79.

Here is the BBC's obituary:

May he rest peacefully.

It is sad to see the passing of such a wonderful person. I had the pleasure of working as Sir Harry's stage manager on one of his Perth visits. He was a delightfully funny man bith on and off the stage.

I'd like to relate a little anecdote...

One evening Sir Harry was feeling a little ill with the "galloping gourmets" - so one of the band placed a champagne cork and a pair of bicylce clips next to his glass of water on the piano. When Sir Harry went to get a drink about 20 minutes into his first set he looked down at the items and read a little note that had been placed beside them "Sir Harry's Emergency Kit". Needless to say the eruption of laughter from Sir Harry saw the pianist drenched.

He was good spirited man and a man of spirituality. He will be sadly missed.
