Oleanna-JOHN NEEDED! HELP!
Wed, 4 Apr 2001, 01:27 pmSince Grant's last call for actors didn't get any response, I'm going to try:
Blak Yak are doing Oleanna by David Mamet, a two-person show about the power of language and the devastating results miscommunication can have. The characters are:
Carol - Student in her twenties played by me who takes a sexual harrassment and a rape case out against...
John - her university lecturer.
Since David Meadows has pulled out, we desparately need a John. It can probably be played by any male over the age of 30 and/or who can pass for a university lecturer. The season will be in the first three weeks of May with performances in Kalamunda, Floreat, and Kwinana, and one performance at Kelmscott Senior Highschool.
This is a marvellous play, and a wonderful part, (not to mention a great director and supporting cast ;-) and it would be a darn shame to have to cancel the season because of lack of performer interest.

Supporting cast? You're selling yourself short, dear. We all know who the REAL star of this show is, honey, and how anyone could miss the opportunity to work with you simply boggles my imagination, sweetie. Why don't you come up to my office and we'll discuss it in greater detail...

Well; Amanda,Did you really mean "any male over the age of 30"?
How about someone approaching 60 but with a good memory? This actor would not resort to the kind of innuendo & crassness demonstrated by Jarrod (King of sleaze)Buttery in order to be cast in the role but would only use the language of sexual harrassment within the confines of the play!
PS,This actor is prepared to take youth enhancing drugs & apply wrinkle free cream from the moment of casting!
Who could ask for anything more? (it sounds better if you sing it).
