What's your favourite line?
Sun, 4 Mar 2007, 05:48 pmHey everyone,
Was thinking about the few shows I've done and my favourite lines I've had said, the ones that good reactions, the ones that got lots of laughs, the one's I've written...
Some of my favourites are:
From a play that I did in year 8, written by our drama teacher- "A Time To Dance"
Marko: (The wannabe rock and roll gang member, trying to rescue the leading lady) Someone needs to swim out there and save her...well don't look at me, I can't swim...(followed by) Everybody stand back, mouth to mouth resuscitation - now that's something I can do!
From my own play- Frank The Plucker, in which I played the character "The Boss"
Boss: Happy Chickens, for fresh succulent chickens...and tap routines.
However an unscripted improv line takes the cake from the leading character Frank when questioned about whether he has a big shiny red sports car by Jill the office secretary...who is only after money!
Frank: Well I've got a Barina!
A classic from a drama class the other day, an on the sport line, we were gangsters, the girl was a mob boss' girlfriend...again only interested in money. I had shot her boyfriend and she wanted to get back together with someone she had been dating at the start of the play.
Little Nicky: No way, you're not getting back with 'im, I know that last time when you found out he was in trouble with Tony you dropped him like a hot potato!
When I played Rooster in 'Annie Jnr' I loved the line in the song Easy Street: Mother dear oh we know you're ...don there listening
Dropping the head to look down on the word 'down' in the song got quite a few laughs.
So what have been some of your favourite lines that you've ever said while treading the boards?
Mind you

From "Footfalls" also by Becket.
I've also had a long established weakness for
"Call me Ishmael"
One of the more interesting opening lines for a book.
Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing.
